Most of us are not battling the fear of stepping into something new or stepping into God’s dream for us—we’re battling ourselves from the past. Our past is far more dangerous than demons or evil spirits, because demons and spirits can be cast out. But how do you cast out your own past?

This is what we’ll be talking about today.

When you step into the Glory of the Father, your past cannot follow you into the future. What do I mean by that? You are made of the past. Every morning you wake up and carry a little more of your past into your future. In other words, we are all collectors of past information and experience.

The picture looks something like this: you sit down at the negotiation table with yourself—yesterday’s you sits down with today’s you—and the conversation about your future begins.

Your past self is more experienced than your present self. In the present, you believe, you desire something new, you’re ready to take a step forward—but then your past self joins the conversation and, with its old experiences, begins to destroy your momentum and stop you in your present.

I’ve noticed that when I enter the Glory of the Father, my past self is forbidden to enter; only my present self is allowed. That’s because unbelief is usually rooted in past experience, and without faith, access to the Glory is denied.

Understand this: when the past is simply information and experience, that’s fine. But most often, we drag along the pain of the past, destructive emotions, past mistakes, and so on.

That’s why people, even after failure, continue making the same mistakes in the future—because the past leaks into the present and distorts our future.

Understand this: religion is built on the past… a God of the past, a past movement, etc.

When you enter the atmosphere of Glory, the past can’t come with you—it detaches from you. It becomes merely information, no longer carrying destructive power.

In the Glory, you are completely healed, and all the painful experiences, failures, and mistakes are transformed into wisdom—information that helps you avoid making the same mistakes tomorrow.

If your past is still alive, it will always try to be part of your present and future.

Notice that most of us experience pain, doubt, insecurity, and so on in the present—but all of these are components we’ve dragged in from the past. They threaten both our present and our future.

We’re building our present with bricks from the past. If we don’t deal with the destructive elements of the past, our present and future will end up in the same place as our past.

God wants you to walk into your tomorrow not with pain and fear, but with wisdom and experience, moving boldly toward His plan and purpose for you.

But true transformation only comes to those who lose the destructive part of their past—and that is only possible in the Glory of God.

Ask yourself: what would your future look like if you weren’t dragging your destructive past into it?

That’s exactly why God’s Word says:

(Philippians 3:12-16)
“I don’t claim to have already achieved this, but I keep pressing on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.”

Most of us can’t move into the future because we’re dragging the corpse of the past with us.

Understand this: the Father doesn’t want to take away your memory, your emotions, or your acquired experience. He wants to disconnect you from the destructive parts of your past. And that happens only by constantly dwelling in His Glory.

Joseph had to be completely and utterly healed from the baggage of his past in order to step into his destiny and calling.

Right now, think about what you believe about yourself—because for most of us, our present identity is pieced together from the fragments of our past.

You “can’t”—not because you really can’t, but because in the past, you failed.

This is exactly what the Holy Spirit is working on: He wants to heal you and separate you from the bitterness, pain, and failure of the past. The Holy Spirit works to show you the dream and the vision the Father has for you—and to lead you into it.

I’ve noticed that every time I step into the Glory of the Father, the Holy Spirit works on healing my heart from the wounds, pain, and scars of the past—even if that “past” is just yesterday.

I’ve also noticed that my past self is not allowed in the Glory—it’s an illegal entity in the Father’s Throne Room.

My past is allowed to exist only as information and experience—but never as a living force dictating my future.

We need to understand that there is no faith, no purpose, and no dream in the “past me”—only accumulated experience, and that experience is usually negative. That’s why my past self is not allowed to live—because the past me will always create a past future.

I’ve been there—I know what it means to be paralyzed by your past, to have your past mock your future.

You may ask, How do I disconnect from my past self, the one preparing my next sabotage?

Only the Atmosphere, the Glory, the Presence of the Father, and a close relationship with the Holy Spirit can perform that separation—from the past—through the Blood of Christ.

There was a time in my life when my past mocked me—it was so alive that I couldn’t imagine life without it. I was just a lump of past pain.

But when the Father took me into His Glory and healed me with the Blood of His Son, my past turned into harmless information. Since then, I’ve been able to walk into my future.

I’ve long stopped holding meetings with my past—for me, my past is dead.

Most of us don’t need deliverance from demons—we need deliverance from the past. I’ve personally seen thousands of people go through encounters with God, be delivered from demons and evil spirits—yet soon afterward, most of them were defeated by their past.

How many times have we heard of people who couldn’t bear the weight of the past and ended their lives in suicide?

The Father told me: Your past must become your enemy—even more than demons and evil spirits.

Because we’ve been given authority over all darkness—but only God has authority over our past. And through the Blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, comes not just forgiveness, but disconnection from the past.

Only those who have truly been disconnected from the past are truly able to live.
